😅🤣😂😅You said with reference to the 1943 field dark room, "The need for speed " Mobile dark room where they can , and I quote , Develop the photos as soon they were " DOWNLOADED FROM THE AIRPLANES " You meant obtained from the airplanes . Computers were not capable of "downloading from airplanes as of yet. Airplanes of the time had very crude computers generally dedicated to one system. None of them were capable of downloading images.

Not unlike the McDonnel F-15. However, Asymmetric thrust in an engine failure would have been an issue, perhaps more severe than the F-14.

A lot of people don't realize that before ww2 the swastika was a symbol of luck and nature. Then the german socialists got their hands on it. Now it's a symbol of dread. That's how I felt hearing that the name of this plane was rainbow. Unfortunately rainbows are ruined now because they're so associated with child sexualization and pee drinking.

Other than its monstrous size it was just a flying aerial target. Manned bombers already were not really viable without massive fighter support, B-29 couldnt escape/fight off fighter attack how was this flying soccer field going to survive??!! Hell the B-52 got beat up by fighters and missiles.😢

The technological advancement from 1935 (DC-3) to 1958 (DC-8) is almost unbelievable! Sadly, as of this comment (6/10/24) there are only 3 DC-8s in service. Two in the Congo and one used by Samaritan's Purse, a humanitarian organization. NASA just retired there flying laboratory last month.

Sadly the B-36 often had more than 4 burning. Engines overheating and catching fire was one of the vices that never really got solved for this aircraft. I am not sure how Nortrop solved the cooling problem in the flying wing. Both aircraft being pushers certainly increased the challenges of cooling those engines. I never understood why the B-36 was done in a pusher configuration because it would have got better cooling in a tractor configuration and there is not really any reason to use a pusher on a straight wing where Northrop likely found it necessary. Another side effect of pushers on the wing is the props eating disturbed air that is moving at different velocities above the below the wing. This increases noise, vibration, and stress on the prop blades.

Both aircrew and gaurd had orders to shoot to kill if someone came over the fence and approched the B36s when the H BOMBS with were on board . craig Allen Santa Barbara Calif.
